Throughout my many years at Wheeler Mission, I’ve been blessed to experience tremendous generosity—particularly, generosity that extends well beyond a person’s life. It’s humbling that so many friends and partners remember Wheeler Mission in their wills, ensuring it thrives long after they’ve passed away.
Did you know we have a legacy society, a community for donors who’ve pledged future gifts to Wheeler Mission?
McWhirter Society—A Legacy of Hope.
The McWhirter Society is named for Luella McWhirter, one of Wheeler Mission’s founders. Membership in the Society is reserved for individuals who support Wheeler through gift commitments from their charitable estate, like trusts or bequests. Because those gifts go towards strengthening our endowment reserve, Society members help assure Wheeler’s future.
Your legacy matters!
When you join the Society and include Wheeler in your charitable estate plans, your gift continues in perpetuity in our endowment. Our endowment is modeled from Joseph’s biblical example in Gen. 41:34-36, protecting Wheeler from future emergencies. All McWhirter Society gifts have lasting purpose, sustaining Wheeler Mission for years to come.
Wheeler’s endowment strengthens our ability to:
- Recruit and retain high quality staff.
- Expand our ministry infrastructure.
- Extend our outreach programs.
- Produce major events to benefit Wheeler.
Know your planned giving options—we’ve made it easy for you!
While it may be tough to wrap your head around it, estate planning sure is important. And it doesn’t have to be nearly as complicated as you may think.
In fact, we’ve created a Planned Giving Summary Chart, outlining several planned giving options! It’s a tremendous resource, and I encourage you to reference it as you go about your estate planning. You’ll see we cover options like bequests, annuities, retained life estates, etc., and outline all the benefits in a simple, easy-to-read format.
