Help and healing for struggling neighbors
Since 1893, we’ve been here to help... thanks to caring individuals like you.
You make our enduring legacy of help, hope, and healing possible!
Through the years, many things about our ministry have changed. As the needs of our neighbors continue, your generous support has helped us renovate and expand our facilities. We’ve gone beyond our humble beginnings to now serve thousands of men, women, and children each year!
While our world—and even Wheeler Mission—are ever changing, one thing remains the same: Our commitment to model Christ’s love and provide the help, hope, and healing that change lives.

The restoration of a father doesn’t end with him. It shapes the family beside him and the generations that follow.
Josh, a graduate of our Hebron Addiction Recovery & Discipleship Program, came back to Wheeler Mission to preach and share how God redeemed his story. His journey wasn’t without setbacks, but through Christ and the support of this ministry, Josh found lasting hope.
Now a business owner, seminary student, and present, faithful father, Josh is building a different future for his family - one rooted in faith, stability, and purpose.
Because when God restores a father, generations are impacted. And that’s the kind of life transformation we are privileged to witness every day at Wheeler Mission.
Last night—like so many other Hoosiers—we lifted our spirits with the @iubloomington vs. Miami game. The men at our Men’s Residential Center are working hard on real, lasting life transformation, and that shouldn’t mean missing out on normal moments like cheering on the Hoosiers.
Through Christ-centered support and community, these men are building new rhythms of hope and healing—and enjoying life along the way. ❤️🙌
They’re not defined by where they are today; they’re defined by where they’re headed.
This question guides our work every day at Wheeler Mission.
On this MLK Day and everyday, we are committed to standing with our neighbors and walking alongside them toward hope and life-transformation.
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.” — Lamentations 3:22–23
No matter what this week holds, God’s mercy meets us each morning. May you walk into the days ahead encouraged by His faithfulness and grace.

When Edward was found outside our doors, his life was hanging in the balance. After nearly 60 years of addiction and homelessness, he had reached rock bottom. Today, Edward is rebuilding his life, serving others, and finding new purpose through faith.

Hope looks different for everyone, but it’s always powerful.
As we continue asking our residents what they’re hoping for in 2026, we’re reminded how meaningful it is to be surrounded by support, compassion, and the promise of a new start.
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” — Isaiah 43:19
A new year reminds us that God is always at work, creating fresh beginnings even when the path ahead feels uncertain. May this season be one of renewed hope, trust, and purpose.
With cold weather continuing through January, Winter Contingency remains critical.
From December through March, Wheeler Mission expands shelter capacity, welcoming 800–1,000+ guests each night with warmth and safety.
