In 2008, Lighthouse Ministries, Inc. merged with Wheeler Mission and the Lighthouse building at 520 East Market Street became known as Wheeler Mission Lighthouse Center. Currently designated as the Wheeler Mission Shelter for Men, it houses all of the men’s emergency shelter services. It is the starting point to direct men to appropriate services and programs both within Wheeler Mission as well as outside agencies that serve the homeless of Indianapolis. Once the location of the Old Elm Saloon, the Wheeler Mission site at 245 N. Delaware Street was originally dedicated into the service of the ministry on March 19, 1922. It was quickly noted that major renovations needed to take place to make it suitable to house and feed men. A new four-story building was constructed at 245 N. Delaware Street and the cornerstone of this building was laid on April 7, 1929. Since then, this building has been used to minister to men struggling with homelessness, hunger, unemployment, and addiction. Residential programs are structured to address the heart-change needed in order to make life-change, aiding the men in finding and securing stable employment, housing, and involvement in the local church.
Our Men’s Residential Center is a donation drop-off location. 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. daily

Begun in the early 90’s by a group of concerned businessmen, the Care Center merged with Wheeler Mission Ministries in 2001. In 2009, the Care Center was renamed the Center for Women & Children (CWC). This location provides an environment that is safe physically, emotionally and spiritually. Hundreds of women and mothers with children enter our doors seeking food, clothing and housing, but they also experience love and compassion, bringing rest for their weary souls. National studies indicate that the fastest growing segment of the homeless population consists of women and women with children, making the services offered at the CWC imperative to our community. There are five main programs at the CWC: Emergency Shelter Services, Foundations, Employed, Revive and Revive:Kids, and Higher Ground Addiction Recovery.

Currently, the location serves only as a drop-off location for non-food donations. The store closed due to structural problems in 2022, and new Wheeler Store opened on 96th Street in Fishers soon after.
