Mary Wheeler Circle

In 1893, Mary Wheeler and a small group of women founded and operated a refuge for neighboring women in desperate need, a refuge known today as Wheeler Mission. Their legacy of female philanthropy and service lives on in the Mary Wheeler Circle, an association for women to help other women.

Mary Wheeler Circle members will volunteer a minimum of once per month whether it be on site, at home through our prayer ministry, or another opportunity throughout the mission.

Members will also fulfill annual donation commitments and vote each year where those funds go to support Wheeler’s Center for Women & Children in Indianapolis.

Prayer Requests

Prayer Requests

Prayer requests from our Tammy, Volunteer Engagement Manager for CWC:

  • Pray for a handful of volunteers with severe health issues.
  • Pray for wisdom and discernment for me as I strive to be the “gate keeper” for those I allow access to our guests. Pray that God guides me when deciding who can and cannot serve. I want to protect our ladies, but not hinder the Holy Spirit. Pray that I remember to go to God first for direction and not as an afterthought for a stamp of approval.
  • Pray for our High Impact volunteers (46). Pray that they are open to the leading of the Holy Spirit concerning what they are doing and how they are serving. Give me wisdom as I strive to keep them meaningfully engaged in serving.
  • Pray that we are listening to God’s call in the Volunteer Ministry and following His lead and His timing.
  • Pray for Natalee Stafford as she prepares to go on maternity leave. Pray for Natalee’s leadership in her new role as director. Pray for the sweet little boy she is carrying and for her husband. Pray for a safe and healthy delivery.
  • Pray for Sharyl and Jessica, the two new Volunteer Ministry employees. Pray that they learn their roles quickly and thrive in the Volunteer world. Pray as they travel to Newell Volunteer Training next week, that they can absorb all that is Newell.
  • Pray for the process of raising funds for an expanded building. Pray for the transition when we move from capital campaign to construction.
  • Pray for a doctor’s appointment that I have on Tuesday. I am not good about regular check-ups or asking for help, but I am having some issues that need answers. Pray that I can trust in these unknown time and not give in to worry and fear.
