Mary Wheeler Circle

In 1893, Mary Wheeler and a small group of women founded and operated a refuge for neighboring women in desperate need, a refuge known today as Wheeler Mission. Their legacy of female philanthropy and service lives on in the Mary Wheeler Circle, an association for women to help other women.

Mary Wheeler Circle members will volunteer a minimum of once per month whether it be on site, at home through our prayer ministry, or another opportunity throughout the mission.

Members will also fulfill annual donation commitments and vote each year where those funds go to support Wheeler’s Center for Women & Children in Indianapolis.

Prayer Requests

Prayer Requests

Anonymous prayer requests from guests in Emergency Shelter Services (ESS):

  • Please help me find a place (housing)
  • Dear God, I pray for me and everyone in Wheeler. Please that everyone would have a peaceful time here.
  • May the Lord watch and keep us in his outreached arms and protect us form any harm

Prayer requests from the ESS case manager, Rachel Her:

  • Continue to pray for the ladies in ESS. There are lots of different personalities so it can cause lots of tension and misunderstanding.
  • Pray for ladies who have housing vouchers and the transition would be easy and quick.
  • Pray for the ladies who are discouraged and desire to come out of the cycle of homelessness.
