Run, Walk…and VOLUNTEER!

Run, Walk…and VOLUNTEER!

With Thanksgiving just 10 short weeks away, we’re gearing up for our 17th annual Wheeler Mission Drumstick Dash! Last week, I shared all the reasons why the Dash should be a part of your holiday plans. It’s a spectacular event, raising funds and awareness for our neighbors experiencing homelessness…and to pull it off, we need 1,500 volunteers!

With hundreds of volunteer roles, there’s an opportunity to pitch in, whether you’re running the Dash yourself, or planning to cheer on your friends and family from sidelines. Here are 3 BIG ways you (and your friends + family) can volunteer to make this year’s Drumstick Dash the best yet!

Volunteer for our Course FuN PaTroL!

Not running or walking the Dash, but still want to be a part of the fun? This one’s for YOU!

Course FuN PaTroL is GREAT for families (no age requirement!), friends, colleagues, etc. to serve together and cheer on our 20,000 participants as they run or walk by. Course FuN PaTroL volunteers will be planted in 50 locations along the Dash, with each spot needing 1-5 volunteers.

Curious how you’ll bring on the fun?! A few suggestions:

  • Bring signs and your loudest pump-you-up music!
  • Dress up! Turkeys, donuts, Santa…Go CrAZy!
  • Cheer, clap, holler, high-five…AND SMILE!

Sign up here. (REMINDER: 5 people max per location!)

Volunteer at the Drumstick Dash Expo!

Already running or walking the Dash? This is the volunteer spot for you.

It’s the volunteers that make our Expo smooth, fast, and efficient. We need hundreds of volunteers to help with:

  • Registration
  • Bib assignment and goody bags
  • Handing out shirts
  • “Ask Me” stations
  • AND MORE!

Go here to read up on our various Expo volunteer positions, and sign up for one that’s right for you.

Volunteer at the Start Line!

With about 20,000 runners and walkers behind the Drumstick Dash start line, we need volunteers to help us keep the morning smooth and steady.

Our start line volunteers are our corral gatekeepers, holding up pace signs and directing participants so they can easily find their starting corrals. After each wave has gone past the start line, volunteers assist with quick clean up or setting up/executing the Lil’ Gobbler’s Run (the cutest part of the morning)!

This position is loads of fun and great for kiddos to do alongside their grownups.

Sound like something you can do? Head here to register!

Sign up, share, and spread the word!

Thanks for all YOU do to make the Drumstick Dash wildly festive and successful…year after year. As we grow our army of volunteers, please help us spread the word far and wide!
