Because of YOU…our neighbors will have relief from the heat!

Because of YOU…our neighbors will have relief from the heat!

A note from Allison Melangton.

Dear friend,

Summer is rapidly coming to an end—and what a HOT summer it’s been!

It seems I can’t turn on the news without catching coverage of the relentless heat. Story after story shows images of our homeless neighbors downtown, and that breaks my heart. Every segment that emphasizes the risk of dehydration and sunburn make me ache for the homeless women and children waiting for a space of their own at the CWC.

It’s for these women and children desperately waiting that we’re “Building for Change.”

This hot, harsh summer reminds me that with homelessness, there is never downtime. We must get this done. And friends, we are getting closer!

THANK YOU, Souls2Serve!

Back in June, Souls2Serve hosted an event to benefit “Building for Change.” The event was created by Bridget Shuel-Walker and Kelly Shepherd-Purmort, two businesswomen committed to leveraging their networks for good. These women and their fellow Souls2Serve committee members worked for months to organize this FUNdraiser at District Tap, successfully raising over $205,000 to expand Wheeler’s Center for Women & Children.

Meet Charlene.

I want you to meet Charlene, a true overcomer and hero. It’s because of the help she and her young daughter received at the Center for Women & Children that they are safe, in their own home, and doing well.

Friends, let’s celebrate God’s goodness to Wheeler Mission and this capital campaign, and let’s continue to do the hard work until all $12 million are raised. We’re getting closer!

Working together,
