Ashley Brown – A Center for Women & Children Volunteer

The ministry at Wheeler’s Center for Women & Children (CWC) would not be possible without its dedicated volunteers. Volunteers get front row seats to the joy, pain, milestones, setbacks, and miracles that happen every day inside the CWC. Our volunteers are valued partners, friends, and allies — and it is our joy to share some of their stories! This piece was guest authored by Ashley Brown, a CWC volunteer.

Wheeler Mission is one of my favorite places!

Having served as a volunteer for three years, I’ve experienced and witnessed Christ change and transform so many lives. And Wheeler is filled with the love of Christ.

My service began in the kitchen. One of my favorite meals we serve is lasagna – it’s very tasty! Throughout my time in the kitchen, I learned how to prepare meals for massive groups, serve guests, build relationships, and share the compassion and love of Jesus. Each time I walk into Wheeler’s dining room, I glance at the Luke 1:37 scripture, which says, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” Those encouraging reminders help us grow and lean on the Lord!

Over the years, I’ve also recruited my family members and friends to serve and donate to Wheeler Mission. I’ve even recently joined the prayer team! The staff and volunteers are so friendly, inviting, and caring, loving the guests with servant hearts. You can just see the overflowing fruit of this ministry with faithful donations and the many people willing to serve and give of their time and gifts.

I’m so excited to see what’s ahead for Wheeler.

Wheeler has truly changed my life for the greater.
