The 2026 Point-in-Time Count offers both encouragement and perspective.
This year`s count identified 1,821 Indianapolis residents experiencing homelessness, an increase of less than 1% compared to last year following larger increases in previous years.
We`re also encouraged to see an 18% decrease in unsheltered homelessness, meaning more of our neighbors were connected to shelter and care during one of the coldest nights of the year.
While progress is worth celebrating, the need remains significant.
At Wheeler Mission, every person who enters through our doors has access to a pathway of Help, Hope, and Healing that can lead to housing, stability, and life transformation.

Some seasons leave us feeling weary, uncertain, or overwhelmed. But even in our hardest moments, God draws near. His love reaches into places of hurt, bringing comfort, hope, and the promise that our story isn`t over.
Today, may we rest in the assurance that God is with us, renewing our strength and reminding us that His grace is enough for whatever lies ahead.
And may we be willing to share that same hope with someone who needs encouragement today. Amen.

A big thank you to @speedwayfiredept Chief Bob Fishburn for spending time with our Compass Kids Preschool students at the Center for Women & Children!
Chief Fishburn read a book about fire safety, showed the children his firefighter gear, and answered lots of curious questions about what it means to serve as a firefighter. Experiences like these help our kids learn important safety lessons while introducing them to the everyday heroes who make our community stronger.
