There is meaning to my life
When he found himself on the verge of losing his job, Shaen feared what would happen to him next. “I had hit rock bottom, and I was angry with myself…”
As a child, Shaen suffered physical and emotional abuse from his family. His father left when he was young. When his mother remarried, Shaen had a good relationship with his stepdad, but their subsequent divorce was just another reminder of the instability he’d come to accept from his life.
“We moved around a lot and never stayed in one place very long,” he says. The combination of abuse and volatility made Shaen insecure. He put himself down a lot and often felt worthless.
This lack of stability followed Shaen into adulthood, and he lived on the brink of homelessness—sleeping on friends’ couches just to stay off the streets. Eventually, when he was on the verge of losing his job and the place he was staying, Shaen feared what would happen to him next. “I had nowhere else to go. I’d hit rock bottom.”
"I realized God doesn’t want me to be perfect. He just wants me to know Him and to succeed in life"
After hearing about Wheeler Mission, Shaen knew it was the lifeline he needed. He came here and joined our Foundation Program, through which he received food, shelter, and guidance to restore his life. He also experienced God’s love.
After a few months, Shaen transitioned into our Servant Leader Training Program. He enjoys serving around our facility while receiving ministry training—and he continues to make progress to rebuild his self-worth.
Now, Shaen is looking forward to what his future holds. “Before coming to Wheeler Mission, I was angry, bitter, and just in an overall bad place in life. But today, I see myself as a person with value. I can trust people again and am getting to know God better than ever before.”
Shaen is grateful for YOU and your incredible generosity. Your prayers and support have helped change his life. “Wheeler Mission really helped me get back on my feet. They showed me a lot of grace. Now, I know I’m not worthless. There is meaning to my life. I’m empowered to do good for others when I leave here.”
