If you or someone you know is experiencing homelessness, poverty, or any other difficult circumstance, there is hope. Wheeler Mission—Bloomington’s Christ-centered, non-discriminatory services take a holistic approach to help hurting people achieve lasting life transformation. Our safe, loving environment provides physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual care so individuals can get the help they need to restore their spirits and rebuild their lives.

Wheeler Mission—Bloomington’s team is hard at work putting the finishing touches on our second annual, Christmas-themed (timed) 5K, Dash 4 Shelter, scheduled for 10:30 am at Monroe County’s Karst Farm Park.
Even with the colder forecasted conditions Saturday (12/7) morning, we are ...shaping up to enjoy a fun event to benefit our cause. Your in-person (or virtual) participation (https://www.runsignup.com/Race/IN/Bloomington/Dash4Shelter) will allow Wheeler Mission—Bloomington to fulfill our daily mission of providing for the needs of those in our community who are experiencing homelessness, especially as we enter into the winter season.
Please know our Master Rental tents will have space heaters, and Starbucks will be serving hot (and iced) coffee and pastries, Kroger supplying bananas, and Chick-fil-A offering cookies within our food court.

In conjunction with the upcoming, annual Old Oaken Bucket game between Indiana and Purdue football on November 30, Indiana University and Purdue University’s Phi Gamma Delta chapters are competitively raising funds against one another to benefit a ...respective organization in Bloomington and West Lafayette that serves individuals experiencing homelessness. This friendly competition is called Run The Ball. And Wheeler Mission—Bloomington is the recipient for IU’s Phi Gamma Delta’s charitable efforts.
On Black Friday (11/29), Purdue’s Phi Gamma Delta members will run the ball from Purdue’s Ross-Ade Stadium up to the halfway point from West Lafayette and Bloomington (which will be Brick Chapel United Methodist Church in Greencastle, Indiana) with IU's Zeta Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta running the football from there ultimately to IU’s Memorial Stadium. So, 100 miles total!!

Emergency shelter services
Emergency shelter services are offered throughout the year at Wheeler Mission—Bloomington
Guests receive emergency shelter, meals, hygiene items, and clothing; as well as case management support, life skills development, and job readiness training. Our case management team makes needed referrals to local organizations for medical, employment, and housing assistance. Guests also learn about Wheeler Mission—Bloomington’s long-term programs for additional recovery services.

Long-term residential programs offer support to guests as they rebuild their lives.
Wheeler Mission—Bloomington’s guests can commit to our long-term programming for additional assistance in preparing stable, successful lives after Wheeler Mission. These programs continue to provide shelter, meals, case management, and other essential services. All our programs are designed with the goal of helping guests experience lasting change through a relationship with Christ.

Foundations
Our Foundations program gives men a solid groundwork for successful, independent living.

Foundations is a two-phase program totaling up to 180 days (with extensions available). It is designed to help men who need short-term housing while they gain the life skills and other support services to overcome barriers to employment and permanent housing.
In addition to having their basic needs met—such as meals, shelter, showers, and clothing distribution—men within our Foundations program participate in the following activities:
• Case management to assist with securing income and housing stability
• Daily classroom instruction covering life skills such as conflict resolution, communication, listening, and interpersonal relationship development
• Job training in the areas of housekeeping and food service
• Job readiness classes covering resume development, interviewing skills, Microsoft Office training, and PC basics
• Financial stewardship instruction in preparation for personal budgeting, debt reduction, and savings

Leadership Training (SLT) programs are given the opportunity to stay an additional 90 days (with extensions available) at Wheeler Mission—Bloomington through our Connect program.
Connect’s goal is to establish and retain local community relationships for program participants to help them build a system of support. A major component of this is church involvement, to ensure each man is holistically nurtured emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Men in Connect continue to receive shelter and food while growing their network of support in their local church and community. Meanwhile, job readiness, financial management, and life skills classes remain available for Connect participants while our case management provides them with assistance in identifying employment and housing opportunities.
Connect, therefore, acts as a bridge between program graduates and the community, so men can become productive, healthy citizens of Bloomington, Monroe County, and South Central Indiana.

Mission—Bloomington offers men an extended stay of 18 months (with approved extensions) through our Transitional Care program.
Our Transitional Care program gives guests the opportunity to reside in an apartment-like setting while paying an affordable monthly program fee. Residents also receive case management to help them overcome barriers in achieving long-term success, choose life skill elective opportunities, and maintain a steady income.
