When people experiencing homelessness turn here, they’re usually not thinking long-term—they’re just looking for the basics. A safe place to sleep. A hot meal. We work together with our community to provide immediate care that helps people stabilize after homelessness and addiction.

Every year, we serve 414,610 nourishing meals across Central and South Central Indiana! That’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner meals available to anyone in our community who’s experiencing hunger.

Homelessness has increased by 77% in recent years. If you need safe shelter, you’re not alone. We provide emergency shelter in Indianapolis and Bloomington.

During the winter months, we often serve 1,000+ guests per night! Through our Winter Contingency program, our team reaches out to people on the streets, helping them get safely inside. Learn more here.

Do you or someone you know need shelter?

Asking for help can be overwhelming, so we make it easy to take the first step.

Our doors are always open, and everyone who knocks on our doors is met with immediate care like clothing, showers, and medical attention—all built on a foundation of God’s love!

Need help but don’t know where to start?

For men facing homelessness, poverty, and addiction, we offer residential recovery programs that help transform their lives.

Our Christ-centered programs provide the tools men need to build a strong foundation, overcome their challenges, and move forward with renewed purpose and hope.

Vulnerable women and mothers with children often have nowhere to turn for help when facing homelessness, domestic violence, poverty, or addiction.

Our Christ-centered residential programs provide a safe space for women and children, empowering them to overcome their challenges, rebuild their lives, and discover a renewed sense of hope for their future.

In Bloomington, we provide life-changing residential programs that help men overcome homelessness, poverty, or addiction—while embracing a renewed sense of hope in their lives.

Our Christ-centered programs provide men with the skills, community, and spiritual support they need to rebuild their lives and achieve lasting transformation.

Compass is a program for women in our residential programs (and recent program grads) that creates greater stability for their families.

Mothers can access free childcare for their children in a safe and enriching environment, while they get the time they need to secure housing and employment.

After someone completes one of our programs, Wheeler Mission continues to come alongside them to promote ongoing healing and lasting success in Christ.

Supportive Care may include case management, childcare, or access to housing, depending on each person’s needs. Wheeler currently offers limited permanent and transitional housing for men and women, both on and off our main campuses.

A primary goal of our residential programs is to help guests move into safe, affordable housing within 9 months to build stable, independent lives.

Support: Indy is our transitional program that gives any guest in need of additional support an opportunity to live in an apartment for up to a year while paying an affordable monthly fee.

Completing a program at Wheeler Mission can lead to many more open doors for our guests!

Servant Leadership Training (SLT) provides our grads with additional mentorship and a ministry internship. This program may lead to full-time employment or other ministry opportunities for our participants, at Wheeler Mission and beyond.
