Clinics
On a rotating basis, the Homeless Initiative Medical Team, a Wishard Hospital Medical Team, and a few volunteer dentists staff our clinics. We have a great need for more volunteer dentists and doctors. Volunteer commitments can be as infrequent as twice a year. If you're a medical professional and would like to volunteer, please email us at volunteer@wmm.org or call us at 317.635.3575. In addition to our regular clinics, there is a Homeless Health Fair every year in late autumn. The Health Fair is a cooperative effort of the Marion County Health Department, Wishard Hospital, and the Gennesaret Free Clinic, and offers a broad spectrum of tests and health services. Wheeler recently added an eye clinic. It is one of the very few facilities in the state dedicated to helping the vision of the homeless. Also, social workers from three organizations visit our shelter several times a week. For more information about the clinics or social workers, stop by the front desk at the shelter. |

Quality health and dental care for the homeless are hard-to-come-by commodities.
50% of women and children clientele are uninsured, and 73% of men are uninsured. Wheeler Mission Ministries is concerned about the physical -- as well as the spiritual -- well being of the entire individual, and therefore we have become a host for several agencies that offer health care specifically to the homeless only. More, we have recently expanded our clinic space. Our dedicated, first-class facilities are among the most professional clinics for the homeless in the state.
